John 3:16

Joh 3:16-21  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  (17)  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  (18)  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  (19)  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  (20)  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  (21)  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Contrast 

We are all perishing.

          John 10:28

          15% of all of Jesus’ teaching deals with judgment and hell.

Our condemnation is personal.

          All of us stand condemned before the judgment of God.

Our condemnation is total

Joh 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Rev 14:10  The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Our condemnation is eternal

Mat 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Rev 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Our condemnation is irreversible

          Once we die condemned it is forever.

         

In Hell -

          We will realize how serious our sin is.

          We will realize how just God really is.

          We will realize how endless suffering really is.

The Unprecedented Rescue:

          God is all pursuing

          His salvation is personal

          His salvation is total

Psa 103:12  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Joh 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Joh 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

          His salvation is irreversible

In heaven -

          We will realize how glorious grace really is.

          We will realize how merciful God really is.

          We will realize how endless satisfaction really is.

Rev 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 

Rev 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 

Rev 21:3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 

Rev 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 

Rev 21:5  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 

Rev 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 

Rev 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 

We are either headed to heaven or hell.

          Both will last forever!

The Choice -

You can either trust in your Saviour or trust in your self.

Here is a story Paul Washer told at one of our conferences:
"One time, when I was a young man, I came back from Peru. I was asked to speak at a church, and they set up microphones in the aisle ways and people came to ask questions of the missionary.
I’ll never forget this little red-headed boy. He was as red-headed as he could be, and freckles all over his face. He walks up to the microphone. He’s standing on his tiptoes. They had to lower it.
He started: “Mr. Washer?”
I said, “Yep.”
He said, “When you win everybody to Jesus in Peru, then what are you going to do?”
Everybody laughed except him and me. I said, “Well, when I win everybody to Christ in Peru, I guess I have to go find another place to work.”
He said, “Yeah, that’s what I thought too.”
Why not? I don’t see anything in the Bible that tells me it can’t happen. Young person, you listen to me. You let only one person limit you – God.
We have raised up men, who, oftentimes in the name of the providence of God, are narrow-minded, little men with tight spirits and tiny hearts. We need men of breath. We need men of heart. We need men and women who will believe their God for great things.
Sometimes, when I’m on my knees and I cry out, “Oh God, what do you want to do now?” It seems in my heart that over and over I hear a singular answer: “What can you believe me for? What do you want to do? Do you think you’ve outrun my ability to deliver? Do you think you’ve reached my greatness, you little man? Stand up, walk outside, count the stars if you can. I know them by name! What do I want to do? What can you believe me for?”
God loves the boldness of a man who reveres Him, and trembles at His name, and yet will fight Him for the sake of Jerusalem – that will grab a hold of the horns of the altar. He loves that man who will say, “I will not let you go until you bless me! You will find no rest from me, until you have made Jerusalem a praise, and the Church, a beauty."

Sufficiency of Scripture Conference (free download)

Several years ago, we had the blessing of attending this conference.  It has probably been the most influential conference our family has ever participated in.   This was the conference that we first heard Paul Washer speak.  God used that vessel to help us understand the gospel in a much deeper way. It changed the way that we would parent our younger children in regard to seeking to lead them to Christ.  For the first time in our Christian walk, we understood relying and depending on the Spirit of God to do what we could not truly do ourselves.  How can a dead man do anything?  We as parents, as much as we love our children, do not have the ability either to give life to them. 

This past weekend, we had the privilege of  spending two days with several other families that challenged and refreshed our souls.  It is so good to be with brothers and sisters in the Lord!   We are still talking, gleaning and praying over things from this weekend.  As several shared how God had worked in their lives to bring them to Him, we were challenged to pray over  several people that we know that are still relying on the strength of their flesh to walk out the Christian life.  As we were praying this morning, the Lord brought this conference to mind and particularly one of the messages by Paul Washer; The Sufficiency of Scripture and the Gospel.  

How excited I was to find that the whole conference can now be downloaded for free.  There are literally hours of spiritual encouragement here.  They all are worth listening to, but if you can only listen to one, make it The Sufficiency of the Scripture and the Gospel by Paul Washer.
