Under a New BOSS

This morning during family devotions Seth shared this with us from Wayne Mack's book
Your Family God's Way
from pages 201-202
Substantial unity is possible among people who have a common standard for making decisions.  When Christians come to me with marriage or family problems, I'll often say to them, "Tell me what it means to be a Christian."  Many reply, " A Christian is someone who has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ."

"You're absolutely right,"I respond." "If you you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved is what Paul wrote in Romans 10:9.  Now, what do you think the Bible means by confessing Jesus as Lord?"

"It means that Jesus is sovereign.  He's in control of everything in the universe."

"Yes, that's right, but what does it mean for you personally to confess Jesus as Lord?"

After people have made a few attempts to explain what it means, I usually trurn to the white board in my office and say, "Let's spell Lord in a different way."  This I write in big letters
"On a personal level, for you to confess Jesus as Lrod means that you acknowledge that Jesus is your Boss."  Then turning  to each family member, I inquire, "Have you acknowledged Jesus as your BOSS?"

A poor illiterate man was converted when he heard the gospel at a rescure mission in a large city,  He continued to attend Bible studies there,  One night everyone else in the room was wearing sweaters with writing on the front.  After the meeting he went home and said to his wife,"I'd really liek to have a sweater with words on it."  His wife agreed to knit him one, but she couldn't read either.  Finally she decided to copy the words she saw on a restaurant window across the street.

When it was finished her husband proudly wore it to the Bible study.

At the meeting people comments appreciatively about the message on his sweater.  Its words perfectly described what happens when a person becomes a Christian.  The sweater read, "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT."

That's what a Christian is - someone who has come under new management.

Aren't those great?!!!
