Dear beloved in the Lord,
As we were driving to
church this morning, Juan, my brother, said, "You know its today a year
ago that our neighbour, Aunt Hawambo died."
(She was a Muslim in her 60s, and she died of diabetic complications.)
"Wow! I can't believe its already a year," I thought to myself.
And then it hit me like a ton of bricks: she's been in hell for one year now. Its been a whole year, and she was lost! She's been in HELL for one year now!
What a terrible, terrible thought; yet it's true. I can't even begin to imagine her agony and pain, as she receives the terrifying and horrifying full wrath of God, which we all deserve. She rejected her only hope: Christ.
And yet what is one year compared to all of eternity?? nothing. Absolutely nothing. She has hardly even begun her suffering.
ETERNITY. What a scary word. We don't adequately realize the weight of it. As I thought of her, i thought of the millions of lost and perishing souls of our world. Oh, that we may have a fervency and a heart to share the Gospel!!
Spurgeon says it best, “If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over
our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about
their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, at least
let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there
unwarned and unprayed for.” - Charles Spurgeon
Oh let each of us pray for the lost and seek to win them to Christ! may we live constantly with eternity in our minds!
I want to encourage each of today, to do that. Don't get bogged down by things; death is around the corner, hell is real, and millions are perishing. Keep your eyes on the Savior, remember how He sacrificed His life for this fallen race! Remember His love for the lost!
